Philippa edits the activities. So most of the mistakes are down to her! She loves making science relevant and exciting, and getting students to think and talk about science that matters. If students also realise that science happens all over the world, that’s even better!

Philippa divides her time between training teachers, writing and editing. Until 2003 she taught in England, Tanzania and Ethiopia. She regularly frequented the early morning photocopying queue, having heard something exciting on the news, leapt out of bed and dashed off a worksheet about it . . . Upd8 allows her (a little) more time to respond to world events creatively!

As well as editing upd8, Philippa Gardom Hulme tutors for the Open University and VSO, writes for Oxford University Press and marks exams.
