Emma Kirk

Picture of Emma KirkWriter, Science UPD8

Emma has been teaching in lower KS2 for 7 years, during which time she has been busy as Science Co-ordinator organising activities such as science weeks, the development of an environmental area and the launch of Eco-School initiative. Her teaching and leadership was rewarded when she won the Astra Zeneca/TES Primary Science Teacher Award 2003. This has brought her additional opportunities including a position on the ASE Primary Science Committee and Surrey’s only Primary Science Leading Skills Practitioner.

Emma loves to share her own interest and enthusiasm for science with children and is keen to make sure it is available to all abilities and that they are aware of its relevance and importance to our everyday lives. She believes children learn best when they have hands on experience and the opportunity to discuss, develop and question their knowledge and understanding.

She is now looking forward to writing some activities for primary UPD8 and hopes they encourage a buzz of excitement amongst pupils.
